In a recent emergency services project, ergonomic evidence helped shape the case for investment by identifying both costed cash, non-cash and qualitative benefits, from better use of space and reduced downtime to improved staff well-being, usability and operational performance.
This is the real value of bringing ergonomics in early. It helps move the conversation from “this would be better for staff” to “this is essential to delivering the service safely, efficiently and sustainably”. The Five Case Model brings the structure, while ergonomics brings the evidence. Together, they can unlock better decisions, better environments and better outcomes for the those delivering services and their service users.
